The line between video games and reality is becoming more and more blurred. Earlier this month Polyphony Digital, the team that puts together the Gran Turismo series of games, offered a test drive of the Lotus Evora in Gran Turismo 5. Now the team has gone a step further and has put together a commercial of sorts featuring the Ferrari California going for a drive in landmark areas. Watch, enjoy, and question reality.

Fortune Magazine revealed their Top ten luxury rides, just in case you have the money and want to buy a luxury car.

On the sports car section, First place was taken by Ferrari F430 Scuderia, a luxury car priced at $277,456. It is powered by a 4.3-liter, 503-hp V8 and makes the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 3.5 sec. Next options: Porsche 911 Turbo and Chevy Corvette.

On the 2 + 2/GT car section best option was Nissan GT-R, $69,850. On the Small coupe section: BMW M3 with a price of $56,500. Large coupe: Bentley Brooklands, $340,990.

On the sedan market top ranked were: Audi RS4 for the small sedans, mid-size sedan: Jaguar XF Supercharged, large sedan: Mercedes-Benz S550.

On the bigger market: Crossover/Wagon: Lexus RX400h AWD, Mid-size SUV: Porsche Cayenne GTS and large SUV: Lexus LX 570.

Ferrari announce new Official Magazine

The Official Ferrari Magazine, the new publication for Ferrari clients worldwide, opens with a truly unique interview. Produced in collaboration with world lifestyle publications leader, Condè Nast, the first issue of the magazine sees Ferrari President and Fiat Group Chairman Luca di Montezemolo being interviewed by Michael Schumacher. One of the many questions posed by Schumacher, who is well aware of Montezemolo’s reactions when a GP doesn’t go well, was: “President, how many TVs have you smashed on my account after watching F1?” to which Montezemolo replies “I’d say four” with Schumacher joking “It’s a good thing you didn’t send me the bill then”

Although the Ferrari F430 Scuderia is already a powerful car, with a 510 hp engine capable to push it up to 320 km/h, for those who want better performance Novitec released its performance package for the Italian sports car.

Featuring a high performance mechanical supercharger and a generously dimensioned water-cooled intercooler, the car develops 717 hp and and astonishing 722 Nm. With the new power increase the vehicle sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, 0-200 km/h in just 10.1 seconds, 0-300 km/h in 26.1 seconds and a top speed of 348 km/h. No words about the price yet!

Carrozeria Touring made its come back few weeks ago at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este with the unveiling of two designed cars based on Maserati models. First was the Maserati A8 GCS Berlinetta, a model that was inspired by the 60’s berlinettas, while the second one, Maserati Quattroporte Bellagio Fastback, will go into limited production.

The next company that will cooperate with Carrozeria Touring will be Ferrari. They want a model that will be able to satisfy customers looking for exotic body. The model they will work on will be the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti.

The final result will be unveiled at the Paris Auto Show.

Ferrari future car to be based on the FXX Millechili

It’s confirmed now, Ferrari is taking into consideration to focus more and more in producing eco concept cars. Their next step is to use the FXX Millechili as a basis for the next supercar. The FXX Millechili is a concept vehicle made of plastic and cardboard and represents the company’s first move in improving their image in front of the environmentalists. It seems that the next supercar of Ferrari will have the basis of the FXX Millechili and will also be underpinned by a modified version of the F430’ s aluminum space frame. The new model will feature a 600hp(450kW) V10 engine and a weight of just 2,200 pounds(1,000kg). With a lengthened wheelbase of 104.3in and a raft of active aerodynamics on-board, the looks of the new car will be quite different to the Millechili. Veyron vs. Ferrari 599 in Highway Race

This is freakin’ hilarious. According to Automotoportal, there was a highway race between a Bugatti Veyron and a Ferrari 599. This happened in England, on the M27 motorway. The Bugatti was leading in the race for about ten minutes before he got pulled over. So what happened was a police officer was just sitting there with his radar gun, not really paying much attention to anything, when suddenly this black thing shoots past him, quickly followed by another black blur. Being a policeman, he just has to spoil the fun, so he chases after him, and reaches 140 mph before catching the Bugatti and pulling him over. The Ferrari got away, and since it had no plates, it was impossible to track. Read more from the source here

Ferrari California: several new photos released

Ferrari on Thursday released five more photos of its new Ferrari California that was revealed earlier this month. The exotic grand tourer will be on display at the Paris International Car Show in October. The hardtop convertible is powered by Ferrari’s 4.3-liter V8, producing 460 horsepower.

It’s not known if the car will be marketed as simply “Ferrari California,” or as “Ferrari F430 GT California,” as a recent trademark filing suggested.

The all-aluminum California is the first Ferrari to feature its engine mounted in the mid-front position.

The car can hit 60 mph in under 4.0 seconds, according to the Italian automaker. A new seven-speed dual clutch transmission debuts in the California, and the F1-Trac traction control system which was first offered with the 599 GTB Fiorano is also included.

“The Ferrari California is aimed at owners who desire a car which embodies everything the Prancing Horse represents in terms of sporty design and innovation, but also seek a car with greater versatility than ever,” the automaker said in a press release.

Interestingly enough, the new Ferrari model actually started out life as a Maserati, according to our sources. The new model was developed under the codename M139 — M for Maserati — and was intended to complete Maserati’s current lineup — giving the Italian Marque the Quattroporte sports sedan, the GranTurismo coupe and a hardtop convertible. But after Ferrari’s 2005 split from Maserati, Ferrari decided to keep the M139 program entirely for itself. As a result, the California rides on the GranTurismo platform.

Ferrari considering Indian expansion

On February 25th, Ferrari kicked off its Magic India Discovery. The event will continue until May 8th and will see two Ferrari 612 Scagliettis cover over 7,000 Indian miles. But in addition to proving the durability of the cars, the event has also shed some light on Ferrari’s future plans. Gabriele Lalli, head of Ferrari’s promotional Magic India Discovery tour, revealed to The Economic Times during the event that "Ferrari is looking at India and may enter the country by 2010." Interestingly enough, Ferrari may look to Tata Motors to help it establish a sales and marketing network within India. Fiat, which owns an 85 percent stake in Ferrari, already runs a joint venture with Tata in India. Moreover, it is rumored that Tata is interested in acquiring a stake in Ferrari. Whatever the case, it appears that times are good for the Prancing Horse as the Italian marque is already expanding into Japan and has a waiting list at least two years long for any of its vehicles.
